2016 Sunshine List: Transportation top earners

Every year Alberta government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants, which includes nurses, teachers, police officers, and firefighters, with six-figure salaries. In Transportation, 527 staffers made the list this year, earning a total salary of $60,548,926.64 in 2015.

At the top of the Sunshine List

Topping the list for Transportation was Deputy Minister / Sous-ministre Carol Layton who brought home $268,963.65 in 2015.

Following Carol Layton was Head, Structural / Responsable, structures Raymond Krisciunas, who had annual earnings of $259,500.79. Assistant Deputy Minister, Road User Safety Division / Sous-ministre adjointe, Division de la sécurité des usagers de la route Heidi Francis made $210,323.80, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Planning Division / Sous-ministre adjoint, Division des politiques et de la planification John Lieou made $206,611.05 and Executive Director, Road User Safety Modernization / Directeur général du Projet de modernisation des activités de sécurité des usagers de la route Predrag Maric round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $196,157.65 for the Transportation 2016 Sunshine List.

The salary and severance disclosure, makes Alberta's public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Alberta to make public the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.
