2019 Sunshine List: Queen's University top earners

Every year Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants, which includes nurses, teachers, police officers, and firefighters, with six-figure salaries. In Queen's University, 1,070 staffers made the list this year, earning a total salary of $176,578,735.15 in 2018.

At the top of the Sunshine List

Topping the list for Queen's University was Dean, Director (School of Medicine), Professor Richard Reznick who brought home $516,881.68 in 2018.

Following Richard Reznick was Associate Dean (Master of Business Administration Programs and Master of Management Programs), Director (Queen's Centre for Business Venturing), Associate Professor Elspeth Murray, who had annual earnings of $455,162.57. Dean (Smith School of Business), Director, Professor David Saunders made $452,168.32, Executive Director (Analytics), Director (Scotiabank Centre for Customer Analytics), Professor, Smith Chair Yuri Levin made $438,849.88 and Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Daniel Woolf round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $410,379.48 for the Queen's University 2019 Sunshine List.

Among the 1,070 Queen's University's employees, who received more than six-figure salaries 77 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 368 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 444 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 135 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 26 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , 19 received over $300,000 at Queen's University.

The Sunshine List

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, makes Ontario's public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

In Ontario the Sunshine List was first published in 1996, by the Progressive Conservative government of Mike Harris. Just 4,576 names appeared on the first list.
