2020 Sunshine List: top earners
Every year British Columbia government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants, which includes nurses, teachers, police officers, and firefighters, with six-figure salaries. In British Columbia, 541 staffers made the list this year, earning a total salary of $121,643,066.00 in 2019.
At the top of the Sunshine List
Topping the list for British Columbia was Thomas Bechard who brought home $938,499.00 in 2019.
Following Thomas Bechard was Santa Ono, who had annual earnings of $601,772.00. Chris O'Riley made $554,900.00, Brenda Leong made $502,848.00 and Ken Cretney round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $472,951.00 for the British Columbia 2020 Sunshine List.

The Sunshine List
In British Columbia, organizations defined by the Public Sector Employers Act are statutorily required to disclose all compensation that is paid to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the next four highest ranking or highest paid executives with decision-making authority earning an annualized base salary of $125,000 or more during a fiscal year.
