Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2020

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Following Feridun Hamdullahpur was Professor Raymond Laflamme, with annual earnings of $329,776.52. Vice-President, Academic and Provost James Rush made $326,000.04, Vice-President, Advancement Joanne Shoveller made $319,905.00, and Associate Professor Steve Fortin round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $318,498.32 for the University Of Waterloo 2020 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2019, 246 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 603 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 571 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 218 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 27 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 11 received over $300,000 at the University Of Waterloo.
