Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2023

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Trent University was President and Vice-Chancellor Leo Groarke, who brought home $305,000.80 in 2022.

Following Leo Groarke was Provost and Vice-President, Academic Michael Khan, with annual earnings of $240,000.80. Dean, Science Holger Hintelmann made $231,166.40, Dean, Trent/Fleming School of Nursing Kirsten Woodend made $230,502.41, and Full Professor Richard Hurley round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $230,000.64 for the Trent University 2023 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2022, 43 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 132 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 126 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 27 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Trent University.
