2018 Sunshine List: Health top earners

Every year Alberta government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants, which includes nurses, teachers, police officers, and firefighters, with six-figure salaries. In Health, 164 staffers made the list this year, earning a total salary of $20,947,161.00 in 2017.

At the top of the Sunshine List

Topping the list for Health was Sr Provincial Clinical Advisor Alan Casson who brought home $332,465.00 in 2017.

Following Alan Casson was Deputy Medical Off. of Health Kristin Klein, who had annual earnings of $318,760.00. Chief Medical Officer of Healt Karen Margaret Grimsrud made $312,192.00, Associate Deputy Minister Andre Paul Tremblay made $271,367.00 and Health Adv/Interim MHPA Deborah E. Prowse round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $200,865.00 for the Health 2018 Sunshine List.

The salary and severance disclosure, makes Alberta's public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Alberta to make public the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.
