Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2021

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Metrolinx's 1,144 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $147,251,078.00 in 2020.

At the top of the Metrolinx Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Metrolinx was President and Chief Executive Officer/Président et chef de la direction Phil Verster, who brought home $742,127.29 in 2020.

Following Phil Verster was Program Director/Directeur de programmes Richard Johnston, with annual earnings of $436,901.71. Vice President, Community Relations and Communications/Vice-président, Relations communautaires et communications Jamie Robinson made $367,141.98, Chief Capital Officer/Chef responsable des immobilisations Matthew Clark made $352,571.57, and Chief Information Officer/Chef de l’information Jenny Alfandary round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $346,629.28 for the Metrolinx 2021 Sunshine List.
