2016 Sunshine List: Energy top earners

Every year Alberta government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants, which includes nurses, teachers, police officers, and firefighters, with six-figure salaries. In Energy, 47 staffers made the list this year, earning a total salary of $5,661,533.25 in 2015.

At the top of the Sunshine List

Topping the list for Energy was Deputy Minister / Sous-ministre Serge Imbrogno who brought home $239,085.69 in 2015.

Following Serge Imbrogno was Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Supply Policy / Sous-ministre adjoint, politiques d'approvisionnement en énergie Richard Jennings, who had annual earnings of $211,318.65. Assistant Deputy Minister, Conservation and Renewable Energy / Sous-ministre adjointe, efficacité énergétique et énergie renouvelable Kaili Sermat-Harding made $169,865.07, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Supply Policy / Sous-ministre adjoint, politiques d'approvisionnement en énergie Steen Hume made $157,665.04 and Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic, Network and Agency Policy / Sous-ministre adjoint, politiques relatives aux stratégies, aux réseaux et aux organismes Michael Reid round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $155,181.49 for the Energy 2016 Sunshine List.

The Sunshine List

Alberta first started publishing the Sunshine List in 2014 following the 2012 election of Alison Redford.

The salary and severance disclosure, makes Alberta's public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Alberta to make public the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.
