Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 1998

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Western Ont. was Dean/Prof. Robert McMurtry, who brought home $256,500.00 in 1997.

Following Robert McMurtry was President/Vice-Chancellor Paul Davenport, with annual earnings of $205,000.00. UC-FMCA Assistant Prof. Susan Adams made $192,903.00, UC-FMCA Chair/Prof. Emmanuel Persad made $184,654.00, and VP-Admin/General Counsel Peter Mercer round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $182,500.00 for the Western Ont. 1998 Sunshine List.

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 1997, 69 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 46 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 21 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Western Ont..
