Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 1999

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the University of Western Ontario was Dean/Professor ROBERT MCMURTRY, who brought home $271,166.64 in 1998.

Following ROBERT MCMURTRY was UC-FMCA Assistant Professor SUSAN ADAMS, with annual earnings of $219,705.84. President and Vice-Chancellor PAUL DAVENPORT made $204,999.96, Associate Professor DAVID CONKLIN made $203,865.83, and Vice-President (Admin.)/Gen. Counsel PETER MERCER round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $182,500.08 for the University of Western Ontario 1999 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 1998, 70 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 59 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 18 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 3 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 1 received over $300,000 at the University of Western Ontario.
