Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2000

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Legislative Assembly was Clerk of Legislative Assembly CLAUDE L DESROSIERS, who brought home $165,282.32 in 1999.

Following CLAUDE L DESROSIERS was Commissioner, Info & Privacy ANN CAVOUKIAN, with annual earnings of $141,815.62. Premier & President of Executive Council HON. MICHAEL D. HARRIS made $139,866.96, Commissioner, Integrity Comm. ROBERT C. RUTHERFORD made $139,573.43, and Assistant Commissioner, IPC THOMAS MITCHINSON round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $125,273.83 for the Legislative Assembly 2000 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 1999, 11 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 21 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 1 received between $150,001 and $200,000 at the Legislative Assembly.
