Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2004

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Following JAMES YOUNG was Chief Coroner BARRY MCLELLAN, with annual earnings of $284,234.36. Deputy Chief Coroner BONITA PORTER made $283,286.84, Prov. Dep. Chief Coroner JAMES CAIRNS made $279,461.17, and Regional Supervising Coroner DAVID EDEN round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $270,910.75 for the Community Safety and Correctional Services 2004 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2003, 316 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 150 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 10 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 11 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 1 received over $300,000 at the Community Safety and Correctional Services.
