Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2005

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Toronto CDSB's 66 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $7,234,345.28 in 2004.

Topping the list for the Toronto CDSB was Director TOM DONOVAN, who brought home $169,230.88 in 2004.

Following TOM DONOVAN was Deputy Director JOHN GUYATT, with annual earnings of $151,441.38. Superintendent SANDRA MONTGOMERY made $131,296.56, Superintendent HARRY MURPHY made $131,296.56, and Superintendent GARY POOLE round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $131,052.73 for the Toronto CDSB 2005 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2004, 46 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 18 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 2 received between $150,001 and $200,000 at the Toronto CDSB.
