Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2006

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the University of Toronto was President/CEO FELIX P. CHEE, who brought home $581,868.04 in 2005.

Following FELIX P. CHEE was Managing Dir., Investment Strategy, UTAM JOHN LYON, with annual earnings of $369,167.04. VP/Provost/Prof., Health Admin. VIVEK GOEL made $366,845.07, President, University of Toronto C. DAVID NAYLOR made $354,117.49, and Prof., English/Vice Pres./Provost SHIRLEY C. NEUMAN round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $351,972.17 for the University of Toronto 2006 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2005, 324 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 953 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 236 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 66 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 19 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 11 received over $300,000 at the University of Toronto.
