Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2009

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Ontario Power Authority was Chief Executive Officer JAN CARR, who brought home $510,756.63 in 2008.

Following JAN CARR was Vice-President, Power System Planning AMIR SHALABY, with annual earnings of $449,407.60. Vice-President, Electricity Resources JOSEPHINE BUTLER made $401,180.90, Vice-President, Conservation & Sector Development PAUL SHERVILL made $351,305.05, and Chief Energy Conservation Officer PETER LOVE round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $328,004.69 for the Ontario Power Authority 2009 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2008, 10 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 23 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 19 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 5 received over $300,000 at the Ontario Power Authority.
