Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2011

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Legal Aid Ontario's 81 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $10,164,426.67 in 2010.

Topping the list for the Legal Aid Ontario was President and Chief Executive Officer ROBERT WARD, who brought home $226,614.54 in 2010.

Following ROBERT WARD was Deputy Director, Legal Aid Ontario Law JACQUELINE MURPHY, with annual earnings of $191,955.91. Counsel JACQUELINE MURPHY made $191,955.91, Senior Special Advisor to General Counsel ROBERT BUCHANAN made $164,251.43, and Vice President and General Counsel SUSAN MCCAFFREY round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $163,120.31 for the Legal Aid Ontario 2011 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2010, 24 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 46 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 10 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Legal Aid Ontario.
