Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2011

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the University of Western Ontario was President and Vice-Chancellor AMIT CHAKMA, who brought home $440,000.04 in 2010.

Following AMIT CHAKMA was Dean CAROL STEPHENSON, with annual earnings of $405,000.00. Dean / Professor/Medical Doctor MICHAEL STRONG made $318,868.80, Vice President (External) KEVIN GOLDTHORP made $313,076.89, and Dean / Professor CAROL HERBERT round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $306,600.06 for the University of Western Ontario 2011 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2010, 201 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 530 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 151 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 50 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 13 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 8 received over $300,000 at the University of Western Ontario.
