Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2015

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Ontario Power Generation's 7,668 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $1,056,097,206.92 in 2014.

At the top of the Ontario Power Generation Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Ontario Power Generation was President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Mitchell, who brought home $1,555,200.04 in 2014.

Following Thomas Mitchell was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Donn W. Hanbidge, with annual earnings of $1,208,155.82. Chief Nuclear Officer Glenn Jager made $597,828.50, Senior Vice President, Law, General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer Christopher Ginther made $527,894.06, and President Canadian Nuclear Partners Pierre F. Tremblay round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $511,012.64 for the Ontario Power Generation 2015 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2014, 1,152 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 4,728 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 1,419 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 253 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 85 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 31 received over $300,000 at the Ontario Power Generation.
