Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2016

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, City of Mississauga's 1,063 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $134,443,815.05 in 2015.

Topping the list for the City of Mississauga was City Manager Janice Baker, who brought home $275,821.57 in 2015.

Following Janice Baker was Platoon Chief Daniel Ennamorato, with annual earnings of $250,454.90. Commissioner Edward Sajecki made $217,906.23, Commissioner Martin Powell made $216,337.95, and Commissioner Gary Charles Kent round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $213,332.67 for the City of Mississauga 2016 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2015, 214 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 732 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 110 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 5 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 2 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the City of Mississauga.
