Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Advanced Education and Skills Development's 125 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $14,309,607.04 in 2016.

Topping the list for the Advanced Education and Skills Development was Deputy Minister Sheldon Levy, who brought home $363,750.92 in 2016.

Following Sheldon Levy was Assistant Deputy Minister, Employment and Training David Fulford, with annual earnings of $196,986.24. Assistant Deputy Minister, Postsecondary Education David Carter-Whitney made $195,352.47, Director, Ontario Student Assistance Program Transformation Project Noah Morris made $154,854.60, and Director, Financial Analysis and Systems Support Todd Kilpatrick round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $154,709.00 for the Advanced Education and Skills Development 2017 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2016, 82 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 38 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 4 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Advanced Education and Skills Development.
