Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the County of Huron was Medical Officer of Health Jan Owen, who brought home $271,107.52 in 2016.

Following Jan Owen was Chief Administrative Officer Brenda Orchard, with annual earnings of $175,701.52. County Librarian and Director of Cultural Services Meighan Wark made $145,931.73, Chief, Emergency Services David Lew made $136,540.07, and Director of Homes and Social and Property Services Barbara Springall round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $135,629.20 for the County of Huron 2017 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2016, 12 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 16 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 1 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the County of Huron.
