Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Assistant Deputy Minister, Chief Drinking Water Inspector / Sous-ministre adjointe, inspectrice en chef de l'eau potable Susan Lo made $186,310.05, Executive Director, Ontario Climate Change Directorate / Directeur général, Direction générale de l'action en matière de changement climatique pour l'Ontario Alexander Wood made $180,617.09, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Environmental Programs Division / Sous-ministre adjoint, Division des programmes environnementaux James Whitestone round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $179,636.18 for the Environment and Climate Change 2017 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2016, 269 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 113 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 13 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Environment and Climate Change.
