Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2018

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, University of Ontario Institute of Technology's 235 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $33,499,587.46 in 2017.

Topping the list for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology was President and Vice-Chancellor Timothy Mctiernan, who brought home $323,455.96 in 2017.

Following Timothy Mctiernan was Dean Tarlochan Sidhu, with annual earnings of $256,098.28. Associate Provost Robert Bailey made $255,508.92, Vice President, Research, Innovation and International Douglas Holdway made $250,213.21, and Vice President, External Relations and Advancement Susan Mcgovern round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $235,368.52 for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology 2018 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2017, 38 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 119 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 59 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 15 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 3 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 1 received over $300,000 at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
