Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the McMaster University was Professor Salim Yusuf, who brought home $462,394.92 in 2018.

Following Salim Yusuf was Professor/Dean and Vice President, Health Sciences Paul O'Byrne, with annual earnings of $446,816.46. Professor/Dean Leonard Waverman made $405,710.24, Professor Akbar Panju made $405,202.38, and President and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $389,837.46 for the McMaster University 2019 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2018, 155 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 412 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 504 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 120 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 34 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 31 received over $300,000 at the McMaster University.
