Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research was Director and Senior Scientist Rima Al-Awar, who brought home $462,746.18 in 2018.

Following Rima Al-Awar was Director and Senior Scientist Johnathan M. Bartlett, with annual earnings of $406,351.36. Executive Lead Peter Goodhand made $394,602.96, Director and Senior Scientist Lincoln Stein made $363,807.35, and Deputy Director Christine Williams round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $295,469.64 for the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research 2019 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2018, 13 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 27 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 6 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 3 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 4 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 4 received over $300,000 at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
