Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2020

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Ontario Provincial Police was Physician Andrew Reed, who brought home $286,332.44 in 2019.

Following Andrew Reed was Commissioner, Ontario Provincial Police Vincent Hawkes, with annual earnings of $277,900.53. Commander Gary Couture made $239,590.90, Commander Mary Silverthorn made $228,093.12, and Commander Ricky Barnum round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $224,279.63 for the Ontario Provincial Police 2020 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2019, 955 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 3,646 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 440 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 19 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 2 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Ontario Provincial Police.
