Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2021

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Municipal Affairs and Housing was Deputy Minister Kate Manson-Smith, who brought home $277,837.21 in 2020.

Following Kate Manson-Smith was Assistant Deputy Minister, Business Management Division Joanne Davies, with annual earnings of $228,186.84. Assistant Deputy Minister, Housing Division Joshua Paul made $198,869.12, Assistant Deputy Minister, Local Government and Planning Policy Jonathan Lebi made $187,490.61, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Municipal Services Division Hannah Evans round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $186,793.52 for the Municipal Affairs and Housing 2021 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2020, 76 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 86 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 20 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Municipal Affairs and Housing.
