Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2021

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Ontario Hospital Association's 41 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $6,707,848.66 in 2020.

Topping the list for the Ontario Hospital Association was President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Dale, who brought home $433,461.58 in 2020.

Following Anthony Dale was Vice President, Learning and Engagement Annie Tobias, with annual earnings of $386,538.42. Vice President, Policy and Public Affairs Elizabeth Carlton made $305,763.29, Vice President, Labour Relations and Chief Negotiations Officer David Brook made $297,455.71, and Vice President, Business Planning and Strategy Hazim Hassan round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $279,307.73 for the Ontario Hospital Association 2021 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2020, 11 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 10 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 13 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 2 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 2 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 3 received over $300,000 at the Ontario Hospital Association.
