Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2021

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the University Of Waterloo was President Feridun Hamdullahpur, who brought home $474,081.23 in 2020.

Following Feridun Hamdullahpur was Professor Richard J. Culham, with annual earnings of $383,932.76. Professor Kevin Resch made $364,348.88, Professor Raymond Laflamme made $336,991.40, and Vice-President, Academic and Provost James Rush round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $326,000.04 for the University Of Waterloo 2021 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2020, 252 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 624 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 566 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 268 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 39 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 11 received over $300,000 at the University Of Waterloo.
