Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2022

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

2022 Ontario Sunshine List: Long-Term Care Top Earners

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Long-Term Care's 114 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $14,357,585.72 in 2021.

At the top of the Long-Term Care Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Long-Term Care was Deputy Minister Richard Steele, who brought home $308,145.89 in 2021.

Following Richard Steele was Deputy Minister Nancy Matthews, with annual earnings of $293,666.15. Associate Deputy Minister, Long-Term Care Pandemic Response Erin Hannah made $258,418.52, Assistant Deputy Minister, Long-Term Care Policy Janet Hope made $242,421.18, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Long-Term Care Capital Development Brian Pollard round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $235,038.43 for the Long-Term Care 2022 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2021, 49 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 52 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 7 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 3 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 2 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 1 received over $300,000 at the Long-Term Care.
