Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2023

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Government and Consumer Services was Deputy Minister Karen Hughes, who brought home $314,116.76 in 2022.

Following Karen Hughes was Deputy Minister Renu Kulendran, with annual earnings of $288,529.20. Associate Deputy Minister- Service Ontario Dafna Carr made $287,154.39, Associate Deputy Minister Heidi Francis made $264,146.97, and Associate Deputy Minister, Deputy Chief Privacy Officer, Chief Digital and Data Officer John Roberts round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $256,474.48 for the Government and Consumer Services 2023 Sunshine List.
