Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2024

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, MacKenzie Health's 974 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $124,916,260.34 in 2023.

Topping the list for the MacKenzie Health was President and Chief Executive Officer Altaf Stationwala, who brought home $679,466.20 in 2023.

Following Altaf Stationwala was Executive Vice President Mary-Agnes Wilson, with annual earnings of $393,924.06. Pathologist Nilam Clerk made $369,006.44, Vice President David Stolte made $346,227.48, and Pathologist John Mcbride Doucet round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $322,640.53 for the MacKenzie Health 2024 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2023, 220 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 638 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 86 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 12 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 7 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 11 received over $300,000 at the MacKenzie Health.
