Newfoundland and Labrador Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2022

On December 13, 2016 the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador passed legislation in the House of Assembly require an annual listing of all employees in departments and a number of agencies, boards, commissions, health care bodies, educational bodies and Crown corporations who receive total compensation of more than $100,000 in a year.

Every year, the Newfoundland and Labrador government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Industry, Energy&Technology's 32 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $3,674,400.00 in 2021.

Topping the list for the Industry, Energy&Technology was Deputy Minister John Cowan, who brought home $163,200.00 in 2021.

Following John Cowan was Associate Deputy Minister Craig Martin, with annual earnings of $154,900.00. Executive Director Paul Carter made $136,800.00, Assistant Deputy Minister Megan Nesbitt made $134,800.00, and Assistant Deputy Minister Alex Smith round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $134,500.00 for the Industry, Energy&Technology 2022 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2021, 16 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 14 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 2 received between $150,001 and $200,000 at the Industry, Energy&Technology.
