Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2004

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

2004 Ontario Sunshine List: Hydro One Top Earners

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Hydro One's 1,323 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $160,405,839.52 in 2003.

At the top of the Hydro One Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Hydro One was President & CEO TOM PARKINSON, who brought home $999,041.98 in 2003.

Following TOM PARKINSON was Chief Financial Officer KEN HARTWICK, with annual earnings of $690,501.84. Senior VP, Asset Management DAVE BARRIE made $445,452.94, Senior VP, Corporate Services TOM GOLDIE made $384,413.33, and VP, General Counsel LAURA FORMUSA round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $345,654.90 for the Hydro One 2004 Sunshine List.

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2003, 574 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 650 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 66 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 17 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 9 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 7 received over $300,000 at the Hydro One.
