Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2008

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Finance's 89 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $11,060,183.76 in 2007.

Topping the list for the Finance was Deputy Minister of Finance/Deputy Minister of Revenue/Secretary of Treasury Board COLIN ANDERSEN, who brought home $307,729.91 in 2007.

Following COLIN ANDERSEN was Assistant Deputy Minister, Supply Chain Management DANIEL WRIGHT, with annual earnings of $241,652.48. Associate Deputy Minister, Treasury Board Office PHILIP HOWELL made $197,211.03, Assistant Deputy Minister, Budget & Taxation STEPHEN ORSINI made $192,143.34, and Assistant Deputy Minister/Chief Administrative Officer LEONARD ROOZEN round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $189,095.31 for the Finance 2008 Sunshine List.
