Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2008

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Hydro One's 1,908 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $234,279,560.94 in 2007.

At the top of the Hydro One Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Hydro One was President/Chief Executive Officer LAURA FORMUSA, who brought home $794,299.31 in 2007.

Following LAURA FORMUSA was Chief Financial Officer BETH SUMMERS, with annual earnings of $521,651.56. Senior Vice President, Customer Operations MYLES D'ARCEY made $489,121.92, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services TOM GOLDIE made $477,841.79, and Vice President, Engineering & Construction Services NAIRN MCQUEEN round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $383,350.00 for the Hydro One 2008 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2007, 715 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 1,035 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 115 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 20 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 12 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 11 received over $300,000 at the Hydro One.
