The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Health & Long-Term Care was Assistant Deputy Minister/Executive Officer, Ontario Public Drug Programs HELEN STEVENSON, who brought home $275,717.90 in 2008.

Following HELEN STEVENSON was Psychiatrist RUSSEL FLEMING, with annual earnings of $274,259.12. Medical Microbiologist FRANCES JAMIESON made $270,997.04, Medical Microbiologist DYLAN PILLAI made $256,694.57, and Chief Information Officer, Human Services Cluster JOHN RENAUD round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $252,452.81 for the Health & Long-Term Care 2009 Sunshine List.
