Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2009

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, International Trade & Investment's 23 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $2,857,683.64 in 2008.

At the top of the International Trade & Investment Sunshine List

Topping the list for the International Trade & Investment was Deputy Minister BRUCE ARCHIBALD, who brought home $239,612.50 in 2008.

Following BRUCE ARCHIBALD was Assistant Deputy Minister, Investment & Trade Division WILLIAM FORWARD, with annual earnings of $178,670.90. Director, Investment Branch JOHN LANGLEY made $136,850.87, Director, International Trade MARY HOPE JAGLOWITZ made $134,588.75, and Senior Economic Officer, Tokyo ROBERT ULMER round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $132,184.06 for the International Trade & Investment 2009 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2008, 7 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 14 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 1 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the International Trade & Investment.
