Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2009

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Following CAROL STEPHENSON was President/Vice-Chancellor PAUL DAVENPORT, with annual earnings of $384,375.00. Dean/Professor/MD CAROL P HERBERT made $349,200.54, Vice-President, External EDWARD H GARRARD made $302,043.68, and Provost/Vice-President, Academic FRED J LONGSTAFFE round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $276,525.00 for the University of Western Ontario 2009 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2008, 184 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 445 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 111 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 38 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 6 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 8 received over $300,000 at the University of Western Ontario.
