Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2010

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Energy & Infrastructure's 61 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $7,968,414.60 in 2009.

At the top of the Energy & Infrastructure Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Energy & Infrastructure was Deputy Minister SAÄD RAFI, who brought home $336,892.24 in 2009.

Following SAÄD RAFI was Associate Deputy Minister, Infrastructure SUSANNA ZAGAR, with annual earnings of $189,630.48. Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Development BOHODAR RUBASHEWSKY made $188,582.02, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Development and Gaming JEANETTE DIAS D'SOUZA made $184,159.11, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Nuclear New Build Secretariat MAHMOOD NANJI round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $183,415.77 for the Energy & Infrastructure 2010 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2009, 19 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 31 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 10 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Energy & Infrastructure.
