Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2010

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Finance's 184 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $21,858,691.21 in 2009.

Topping the list for the Finance was Deputy Minister PETER WALLACE, who brought home $309,042.40 in 2009.

Following PETER WALLACE was Assistant Deputy Minister DANIEL WRIGHT, with annual earnings of $259,052.44. Associate Deputy Minister, Office of the Budget Taxation & Pensions STEPHEN ORSINI made $190,810.42, Assistant Deputy Minister, Provincial Local Finance Division SRIRAM SUBRAHMANYAN made $184,194.86, and Asst. Deputy Minister/Provincial Controller, Office of the Provincial Controller Division BRUCE BENNETT round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $182,543.11 for the Finance 2010 Sunshine List.
