Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2011

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

2011 Ontario Sunshine List: Labour Top Earners

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Labour's 116 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $13,276,519.24 in 2010.

At the top of the Labour Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Labour was Chief Physician LEON GENESOVE, who brought home $208,886.09 in 2010.

Following LEON GENESOVE was Deputy Minister CYNTHIA MORTON, with annual earnings of $204,771.45. Senior Medical Consultant LILLIAN WONG made $185,129.57, Chief Administrative Officer LEN MARINO made $170,591.61, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Division KEVIN WILSON round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $170,591.61 for the Labour 2011 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2010, 57 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 53 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 4 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 2 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Labour.
