Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2013

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Citizenship & Immigration's 55 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $7,138,240.57 in 2012.

At the top of the Citizenship & Immigration Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Citizenship & Immigration was Deputy Minister, Pan/Parapan American Games PAUL GENEST, who brought home $348,106.18 in 2012.

Following PAUL GENEST was Deputy Minister, Pan/Parapan American Games JUDITH WRIGHT, with annual earnings of $237,352.58. Deputy Minister CHISANGA PUTA–CHEKWE made $221,525.58, Project Director NANDA CASUCCI made $182,824.83, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Citizenship & Immigration Division MARSHA BARNES round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $182,451.44 for the Citizenship & Immigration 2013 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2012, 19 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 27 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 6 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 2 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Citizenship & Immigration.
