Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2013

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

2013 Ontario Sunshine List: Labour Top Earners

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Labour's 141 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $16,328,749.87 in 2012.

At the top of the Labour Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Labour was Deputy Minister CYNTHIA MORTON, who brought home $238,496.58 in 2012.

Following CYNTHIA MORTON was Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Division KEVIN WILSON, with annual earnings of $237,358.88. Chief Physician LEON GENESOVE made $206,488.70, Senior Medical Consultant LILLIAN WONG made $198,647.20, and Chief Prevention Officer GEORGE GRITZIOTIS round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $188,303.44 for the Labour 2013 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2012, 77 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 56 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 5 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 3 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Labour.
