Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2016

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the City of Hamilton was City Manager Christopher Murray, who brought home $272,534.34 in 2015.

Following Christopher Murray was Chief of Police Glenn De Caire, with annual earnings of $271,031.63. Medical Officer of Health Elizabeth Richardson made $254,637.49, Superintendent Michael Shea made $254,329.09, and Deputy Chief Eric Girt round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $232,311.62 for the City of Hamilton 2016 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2015, 613 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 932 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 94 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 8 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 4 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the City of Hamilton.
