Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Cabinet Office's 83 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $10,838,381.26 in 2016.

At the top of the Cabinet Office Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Cabinet Office was Secretary of the Cabinet Stephen Orsini, who brought home $349,840.66 in 2016.

Following Stephen Orsini was Deputy Minister Lynn Betzner, with annual earnings of $264,990.72. Deputy Minister Steven Davidson made $260,159.28, Assistant Deputy Minister Mary Shenstone made $197,167.05, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Anti-Racism Directorate Sanjeev Erry round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $196,407.34 for the Cabinet Office 2017 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2016, 27 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 41 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 12 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 2 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Cabinet Office.
