Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2017

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Ontario Court of Justice's 592 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $120,629,242.48 in 2016.

At the top of the Ontario Court of Justice Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Ontario Court of Justice was Judge Lise Maisonneuve, who brought home $323,922.23 in 2016.

Following Lise Maisonneuve was Judge John Payne, with annual earnings of $318,939.62. Judge Faith Finnestad made $318,939.41, Judge Peter Bishop made $313,381.40, and Judge George Glaude round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $313,381.40 for the Ontario Court of Justice 2017 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2016, 10 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 293 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 10 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 13 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 250 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 16 received over $300,000 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
