Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Education's 567 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $66,935,699.19 in 2018.

At the top of the Education Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Education was Deputy Minister Bruce Rodrigues, who brought home $314,033.61 in 2018.

Following Bruce Rodrigues was Deputy Minister Nancy Naylor, with annual earnings of $236,006.39. Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Education and Well Being Division Denise Dwyer made $207,676.40, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management and Services Division Bohodar Rubashewsky made $207,676.40, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Education Labour and Finance Division Andrew Davis round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $207,676.40 for the Education 2019 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2018, 243 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 289 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 29 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 5 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Education.
