Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation's 42 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $5,398,273.99 in 2018.

Topping the list for the Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation was Deputy Minister Deborah Richardson, who brought home $288,321.07 in 2018.

Following Deborah Richardson was Assistant Deputy Minister, Negotiations and Reconciliation Grant Wedge, with annual earnings of $207,676.40. Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Relations and Programs Shawn Batise made $195,649.46, Director, Programs and Services Nadia Temple made $164,879.86, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy and Planning Jonathan Lebi round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $164,121.27 for the Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation 2019 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2018, 16 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 18 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 6 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.
