Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Ontario Human Rights Commission's 14 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $1,963,986.38 in 2018.

Topping the list for the Ontario Human Rights Commission was Executive Director Raj Dhir, who brought home $225,458.07 in 2018.

Following Raj Dhir was Counsel Senior Matthew Horner, with annual earnings of $208,424.81. Chief Commissioner Renu Mandhane made $191,794.27, Counsel Reema Khawja made $166,739.64, and Counsel Sunil Gurmukh round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $142,451.59 for the Ontario Human Rights Commission 2019 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2018, 5 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 5 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 2 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 2 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
